Patrick Dempsey is one proud father!
On Friday, May 30, the 59-year-old actor shared a photo on Instagram featuring him and his wife Jilian at their twin sons Darby and Sullivan’s high school graduation.
“Graduation!!” Patrick wrote in the caption. “I’m so proud of you boys and can’t wait to see what the next chapter of your lives brings!” His wife Jilian, also 59, commented, “🙌 🙌.”
In the picture, Patrick and Jilian are smiling as they pose with their sons, Darby and Sullivan, who are both 18 and dressed in matching navy-blue graduation gowns outside. The twins graduated from the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences located in Santa Monica, California.
Darby shared a lovely family picture on his Instagram, along with some photos of him shaking hands with a professor on stage while getting his diploma, and another one with his older sister, Talula, who is 23, at the ceremony.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better senior year,” Darby wrote in his caption. Mom Jilian commented, “Bby B I am so proud of you ❤️🙌❤️🐔,” and sister Talula also added, “🤙🤙🤙.”
On the other hand, Sullivan posted a picture on his Instagram Stories of him with a group of his “best friends,” all wearing their graduation caps and robes inside.
Patrick’s Instagram post celebrating his sons’ graduation comes after he talked to PEOPLE about the “challenges” of raising his three kids in the public eye.
The Ferrari star mentioned that his kids, “want to have their own identity, separate from me and that shadow.”
“They all have unique qualities and their own goals that they need to develop and work on themselves, and we just try to show them how to behave, hoping they’ll learn from us,” he told PEOPLE. “…They are all very disciplined about that, and we just try to teach them the right values.”
Patrick mentioned that it has been “really tough” for his kids to “grow up in Hollywood, but he and his wife Jilian have worked hard to create “a nice, peaceful, loving, and safe space for them.”
“They have to discover how to engage with the world, they have to understand their limits, and they have to make errors. You have to support them and let them learn from those experiences,” the actor continued.
