According to Fox News Digital, the FBI launched a task force on Monday aimed at addressing violent attacks against Tesla.
This task force, which will oversee investigative activities, was created in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
As authorities prioritize the prevention of violence, the FBI urges Tesla owners to remain vigilant. Recent reports indicate a rise in targeted shootings, vandalism, and arson incidents directed at Tesla dealerships, charging stations, and vehicles across the country.
The formation of this task force coincides with a nationwide initiative aimed at targeting Tesla owners, dealerships, and charging stations, linked to Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which seeks to minimize fraud and wasteful expenditures in the federal government. Musk serves as the CEO and co-founder of Tesla.
FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson stated to Fox News Digital, “As always, Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino have emphasized the importance of responsiveness to agents in the field and ensuring they have the necessary resources to serve the American public.” He added, “This Task Force represents our latest effort to coordinate actions against those who perpetrate violent attacks on Tesla, ensuring they are pursued and held accountable.”
Since March 1, 2025, the FBI has received 48 reports, referred to as “guardians,” concerning criminal activities, threatening communications, and violence related to Tesla. These guardians assess incidents associated with counterterrorism.
Currently, seven arson investigations remain open, with the FBI collaborating with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. A source familiar with the investigation informed Fox News Digital that no connections have been established between the individuals involved in the series of arson incidents at Tesla dealerships and any online organizations.Director Patel has made it abundantly clear: the FBI is committed to its mission of safeguarding the American populace, as stated by another FBI official. “We will pursue acts of violence, vandalism, and domestic terrorism—such as the recent attacks on Tesla—with the full weight of the law.”
In relation to the task force, a command center has been set up at FBI headquarters, and a specific threat tag has been created to facilitate the reporting process. To mitigate this threat, a collaborative task force involving both the FBI and ATF is actively engaged.
As reported by Fox News Digital, on March 29, 2025, 500 demonstrators are demanding that all 277 Tesla showrooms and Supercharger stations take part in the Tesla Takedown initiative.
Last week, the FBI uncovered a website registered on March 17, 2025, which featured a map of the United States pinpointing the locations of Tesla dealerships and superchargers, along with the addresses of individuals associated with the Department of Government Efficiency. The cursor on the website was a Molotov cocktail. The FBI is categorizing these attacks as “domestic terrorism.” Attorney General Pam Bondi has also labeled the assaults on Tesla as “domestic terrorism,” and last week, the Justice Department filed charges against three individuals in connection with the Tesla arson incidents.
The head of the Department of Government Efficiency and CEO of Tesla has expressed his astonishment at the attacks and protests directed at the company.
“It’s truly shocking to me that such a degree of hatred and violence is coming from the left,” Musk remarked in an exclusive interview on “Hannity” last week.
“I had thought that Democrats, or the left, were supposed to embody compassion and understanding. Yet, they are setting cars on fire. Dealerships are being targeted with firebombs. Bullets are being shot into dealerships. They are simply destroying Teslas,” he continued.In reaction to the “deranged” assaults, Musk remarked, “there appears to be a mental health issue at play, as this behavior is illogical.” The billionaire also alluded to “greater forces” that could be influencing the attacks happening nationwide.
